How much does therapy cost?

The fee for a 50-minute session is $120 (tax included), payable by e-transfer, debit, or credit card. Moonrise Counselling provides official receipts for all services rendered.

When contemplating service costs, it might be helpful to ask yourself what it might cost not to take the next step in caring for your mental health. If you were having a problem with your car, you could try to fix it on your own, but it would cost you in precious time, emotional energy and unnecessary frustration. The same thing applies to your mental health.

24-HOUR CANCELLATION POLICY

Please note that once you have booked an appointment, it means that I have reserved time in my schedule exclusively for you. If you cancel your appointment less than 24 hours before it is scheduled to take place, you will be subject to a penalty/fee/rebooking charge of $120. To avoid a cancellation fee, please provide cancellation notice at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. You can cancel or reschedule an appointment by calling 306 621 4777.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not currently offer direct billing; however, many extended health plans cover services provided by Registered Social Workers. I recommend that you call your insurance provider to inquire about your coverage. Many insurance companies are happy to take your call during business hours and will provide you with specific information about your coverage in a timely fashion.

What is your availability?

Office hours are Monday to Friday, with varying times available from week to week. You can refer to my booking calendar for up-to-date options.

My office is located at 35 Smith Street West in Yorkton (inside Refresh Massage Studio and Spa). I also offer online sessions.

How often should I attend?

Sessions are typically held once a week or bi-weekly for 50 minutes. Treatment can be short-term (just a few sessions) when you are dealing with immediate issues, or long-term (months or years), when dealing with longstanding and complex issues. Some people continue to access therapeutic services long after they have resolved their more immediate concerns as part of mental health and wellness maintenance. The length of the treatment is usually determined by the severity of the client's issue(s) and the goals of treatment, but the choice is always up to you and you can withdraw from therapy at any point in time.

How long does therapy take?

The short answer is that it really depends! When dealing with complex, long-lasting issues, treatment may take longer. When the issue you have been working on has been resolved, and you no longer need therapy (i.e., you have significantly reduced your performance anxiety), then treatment can end there. You can think about going to therapy like going to the gym, except instead of building physical muscles, you are building mental muscles that will help you to become stronger, healthier and more flexible. We may need to work on motivation and exploring and finding your "why" before we get momentum going. You may be asking, does that mean I have to go to keep going to the "mental gym" for the rest of my life to keep up results? Absolutely not! We do not want you to stay in therapy forever. We will work together on supplying the right tools, perspectives and mindsets that you will then apply in every day life and practice, making this habit. And if things get tough again, and you need new strategies to adapt to your life circumstances, you can always come back. You are also more than welcome to access therapy as a way of maintaining your mental health with ongoing, but perhaps less frequent sessions.

Do you work with children?

At this time, I am only accepting clients ages 10 and up. Please note that guardians/caregivers of children aged 16 or younger attend the first session without the child, in order for the guardian to meet with the counsellor to discuss concerns and develop a plan for the counsellor, guardian and child moving forward. Parental consent forms must be completed for all children aged 16 and younger. In the case of shared custody, both parents are required to sign the parental consent.

Do you offer online sessions?

I offer sessions in-person, online (video) and by telephone. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me anytime!
